This hands-on lab course brings renewable energy systems to life. Working at Lakeland College’s Centre for Sustainable Innovation in Vermilion, students gain practical experience with solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind, geothermal, biomass, and energy storage technologies.
Participants perform site assessments, install and inspect PV and thermal systems, test components, and carry out system maintenance and commissioning. Additional lab sessions cover biodiesel production, energy monitoring and controls, and safety procedures for electrical, mechanical, and structural work.
This capstone course complements the online learning from the Sustainable Energy Technology diploma and provides the applied skills essential for working safely and effectively in the renewable energy field.
