CourseGraphic This course prepares students for awareness-level responsibilities in rope rescue operations, emphasizing foundational knowledge and skills for assisting with mechanical advantage systems, conducting incident size-ups, recognizing hazards, and initiating isolation procedures. Students will learn to operate within established protocols, support higher-level rescue operations, and assess the need for additional resources. Key topics include incident management, resource assessment, hazard control, and the basics of incident action plans. Upon completion, students will be equipped to support operations safely and effectively in alignment with AHJ guidelines and incident action plans.

 

Prerequisites: EMR, Advanced First Aid (St. John’s or Red Cross), or an equivalent certification

Evaluation: practical evaluation, proctored written exam
