
Learn how to shoe your horse and maintain proper hoof management. This course offers classroom learning and hands-on practice.

Topics include:
- build on the skills learned in Horse Hoof Trimming
- art and science of hoof trimming
- shaping of a shoe
- conformation of the hoof
- physiological movements of the hoof and leg
- hands-on practice with cadaver hooves
- by the end of the course you will be working on horses
All farrier tools are provided. Please remove all jewelry and tie back long hair. You have the opportunity to work on live horses on the Sunday and you have the option to bring your own horse if you would like to. We need 3-5 horses per course. Horse boarding is available, please contact the program manager if you plan to bring a horse.

- pen and paper
- gloves
- farrier tools if you have them
- bibs or coveralls (farrier chaps if you have them)
- steel toe boots highly recommended (please disinfect before coming on campus)
- water bottle
