The Introduction to Prescribed Fire is co-hosted by Lakeland College and the Canadian Prescribed Fire Exchange at the Lakeland College Campus in Vermilion, Alberta. This course is designed to introduce prescribed fire and is tailored to those with none to minimal experience in fire - although all are welcome to apply. 

This 3-day event has been organized by volunteers across many agencies in Saskatchewan and Alberta who are excited to share their knowledge and build capacity in prescribed fire within Western Canada. No prior experience is required although completion of ICS-100 ($25 available at https://icscanada.ca/) is required, completion of the CPPFE - Introduction to Prescribed Fire ($150 https://www.grasslandfire.ca/intro-to-prescribed-fire) is encouraged.

Participants are asked to bring their own PPE (Nomex clothing or equivalent Fire-Resistant clothes), all leather gloves, eye protection, hard hat with ear protection) but limited PPE is available if participants do not have it.
