Field and Facility Operations covers land survey systems, drilling methods and equipment, primary, secondary and enhanced hydrocarbon recovery, artificial lift, petroleum chemistry, flow diagrams, field operations, direct and indirect fire heaters, field operations (pigging), safety, isolation of mechanical and electrical equipment, plant fire protection, gas well stream analysis and hydrocarbon gas sampling.
The goal of the course is to increase the learner’s awareness of equipment optimization and gain a better understanding of process equipment and the safe operation of that equipment. This course is delivered completely online. A suggested course schedule will be provided within the course material. Students have 4 months to complete the course.
Course content is available online on D2L. Students must have access to a computer and internet in order to view course content and complete course requirements. Students will be able to print the content off in D2L to keep or study from if they wish. Quizzes are not available to print.
Material will include: course manual, online discussions, videos, quizzes, tests, and exams.
The course manual is broken up into 17 learning outcomes, including 1 quiz per learning out come.
In addition to the learning outcomes and quizzes there will be 1 mid-term, and 1 final exam. Examinations can be written with an approved offsite proctor.
A course extension option is available. The fee for a one month extension is $150.00. Students must request course extensions in writing to the Program Coordinator a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the course end date. All extension requests must be submitted to energyconed@lakelandcollege.ca and are subject to approval.
