
Learn the basics of dairy hoof health with two certified WCCTCHA instructors. They will talk about anatomical structure of the hoof, different hoof diseases and lesions and hoof trimming techniques. This workshop is designed specifically for members of the dairy industry including: farmers, industry workers, researchers, and vets.
Both classroom instruction and hands-on training in the 2-day course.

Topics include:
- anatomy and biomechanics
- infectious and non-infectious hoof lesions
- tool safety
- the 5-step Dutch Trimming Method
- blocking, wrapping and tool sharpening

Course Schedule:
- Day 1 am- classroom learning
- Day 1 pm- working on cadaver hooves in the barn
- Day 2 am- start in the classroom then move to the barn
- Day 2 pm- in the barn
Things to bring:
- PPE - leather gloves, eye protection, ear plugs, coveralls, steel toed boots (please disinfect)
- Snacks/ meals/ water bottle
Things to note:
- All tools are provided
- classroom and barn area are heated, please dress appropriately
- please remove all jewelry and tie back long hair
- safety is our top priority, you will be wearing full PPE in the barn while working
