This course combines online self-paced learning with in-class practical application to prepare you for the NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level I Certification Exam.
Over a period of four weeks, you will complete the online learning modules and QETC 143 exam to prepare for the in-class training. You will then attend two days of instructor-led, scenario-based training, followed by a final day dedicated to the NFPA 1021 Level I Certification Exam.
Throughout the online modules, you’ll engage with structured readings and scenario-based examples that build your understanding of fire officer responsibilities and decision-making in both emergency and non-emergency settings. Each module includes Reflect & Apply questions and Knowledge Checks to reinforce learning and help you prepare for both the online exam and in-class skill evaluations.
The in-class training focuses on applying what you’ve learned through realistic emergency scenarios, group collaboration, and structured leadership rotations. You’ll assume the role of a fire officer, communicate tactical decisions, and practice implementing and analyzing incident action plans. Through regular feedback and coaching, instructors will help you refine your skills and support your development in preparation for the certification exam.
