ClassGraphic In this course students come to campus for hands-on training. This course introduces Sustainable Energy Technology students to onsite energy auditing, as-built plan evaluation and associated ERS file preparation and review in preparation for future plan evaluation and quality assurance review by their certified energy audit company or service organization; the last of 3 steps in become an NRCan Certified Energy Advisor.  
 
Students will review BEM Part 1 and Hot2000 software requirements. Students will perform a typical, hands on energy audit including onsite tools, measurement, as built plan evaluation, as built construction specification and corresponding building energy model. Onsite energy audit and plan evaluation will include completion of data entry sheets and associated measurements and photographs, blower door testing, air leakage impacts and visualization with FLIR and Smoke Pencils. Students will brainstorm and model potential building optimization and identify Green Home rebate estimate based on sample client upgrades. The Renewable Energy Learning Centre (RELC) and a student residential townhouse will be made available on the Vermilion campus for auditing purposes. Prerequisite: QNRG 231 Energy Advisor Building Energy Modelling.
